Marine Dynamics is an internationally recognised, award-winning shark cage diving company in Gansbaai, South Africa. Marine Dynamics is committed to the research and conservation of sharks and other marine species, whilst offering five-star educational and impactful shark encounters. Marine Dynamics hosts guests, volunteers, and film crews from across the globe, and changes perceptions of sharks every day.

Marine Big 5 & Whale Watching Tours

Explore the abundant Dyer Island marine ecosystem to potentially encounter the Marine Big 5: whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and endangered African penguins. We employ marine biologists as guides and conduct invaluable research and conservation efforts to support the long term survival of the ecosystem we rely on. We see whales throughout the year, but more emphasis is placed on whale-watching during Southern Right whale season from June to November.

African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary

Opened in 2015, the APSS is as a custom-designed marine bird rehabilitation center. We provide temporary care to diseased, displaced, injured, oiled and abandoned marine birds with special focus on the endangered African penguin. Marine bird rescue, rehabilitation and releases part of the conservation management plan to stabilize and maintain population numbers.  Visit the Sanctuary for free during your time in Gansbaai.

Dyer Island Conservation Trust

Founded in 2006 by Wilfred Chivell, the Dyer Island Conservation Trust delivers conservation and research programmes to protect the biodiversity of the marine eco-system surrounding Dyer Island.

The trust strives to protect the endangered African Penguin whose numbers are at an all-time low, the world’s densest populations of the vulnerable Great White Shark and the globally important breeding and calving grounds of the Southern Right Whale.
