Superb conditions for this morning’s early trip. We had a smooth ride out to Shark Alley where we first checked out our colony of Cape Fur Seals. After capturing some great pictures of these playful creatures we headed out to our dive spot just behind Geyser Rock, and tried to attract some sharks. With the sun shining we were able to enjoy some fun facts about our white sharks that frequent the Dyer Island area. Some of our avian friends also joined us for these talks, including some Giant Petrels, and even an Albatross gliding in the distance. Although we were unfortunately unable to locate the sharks today, we did observe two other animals from the Marine Big 5, which was excellent. Firstly a pod of approximately 20 Common Dolphin breezed past us travelling through the area at some speed, while toward the end of the trip we saw a dramatic encounter between a Cape Fur Seal and his lunch (most likely an squid or octopus).
