A beautiful start to any day, we headed out on a bright, clear morning to try our luck at some shark cage diving! We anchor close to the Islands, our Winter diving area, and had a nice sized female turn up about 20 minutes later. It seemed that this morning was all about the big sharks with most of the animals we saw being over 3.5m in length. The largest shark of the trip, Maureen, made her appearance about half way through our dives, she is well known to us and we are lucky to have her visit our bay twice a year. The most active shark of the trip was not the largest but one of the smallest of the day, a juvenile male we have been seeing now for close to 4 weeks, both in the Shallows and around the Islands and goes by the name “Tom Kay”. Today was th most activity we have ever seen from this shark and I’m sure he has made a life-time impression on many of our visitors from this morning. Before heading back to the harbour we visited the Islands for a closer look at some of the bays other inhabitants, in particular the Cape Fur seal!

On our second trip not even arrived at the cage, which we left out on anchor, we spotted the first great white shark. We quickly changed into the wetsuits and got ready to get into the cage to view these beautiful creatures under water. After about another 10 minutes a satellite tagged shark showed up. She is a big female with an estimated size just under five meter. The shark activity was good throughout and we were fortunate to have seven different individuals around. Just before heading back to the harbour we were slowly passing trough Shark Alley to have a look at the white sharks favourite meal.
