We launched early from Gansbaai harbour this morning as the tide was too low for us to head out from Kleinbaai. Whilst it does take us longer to get to our dive site it is a nice trip around Danger Point, especially if we spot something special on the way as we did this morning when we stumbled upon two humpback Whales! Onto our dive site and into some light rain, thankfully it moved on and we had a dry day for the remainder of our trip. The sharks only took minutes to turn up this morning with one of recent regulars popping up first, a smaller very active female with a healing scar on the right side of her peduncle. The action during our second trip of the day started somewhat quickly as we arrived at our cage to find an active shark circling it! We had some of the smaller sized sharks of the day for the majority of this trip till towards the end when the big ones came to play! It’s always great to have a variety of different sized sharks around the boat to give the divers an idea of the growth and life stages of these creatures. Our last trip of the day was an exclusive for the Hazlewood family and continued with the theme of the day with some great shark action. Not only was it the sharks that were marvellous on this trip, the weather had cleared up so nicely that it didn’t feel at all like a winter’s afternoon! We had our very active large male with the large rounded notch in its dorsal hanging around for most of this trip. This shark has become a favourite for those on Slashfin recently as spent the entire day with us visiting on each trip! We also had a sub-adult female who had such a graceful personality as she glided in slowly to investigate the divers in the cage! A lovely Saturday spent out on the sea…
