Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 18.8’C
Depth: 12.3m
Visibility: 0.5m
Number of Sharks: 6
Conditions: Sunny + swell

The sun was shining this morning as we set out for the Island to see if we could spot some Great White Sharks! Unfortunately, whilst visibility at the Island was close to 4m there was a bit of swell present and we were unable to find any sharks in the area, thus we headed into the shallows. We had much better luck in the Joubertsdam with only a minimal wait before a number of sharks appeared. There was one particular shark, a 4m long individual with a very memorable notch on its fin that was seen around the boat constantly throughout the trip, who proved that it’s not only the little guys that like to show off! We were also lucky to encounter a 3.3m shark with a satellite tag attached to its dorsal fin, whilst we have some ideas as to the identification of this shark we eagerly await another chance to have a closer look. Today we were happy to welcome back Andrew and Sebastian from the UK who joined us for two consecutive days, we hope you thoroughly enjoyed both your trips aboard Slashfin! It’s always great to see people return to spend more time with the sharks…
