Today was a picture perfect summer’s day, the sun was shining, the seas were flat and it was warm above and below the water! Our first trip headed out this morning and was able to enjoy the beautiful weather and conditions out on the boat before their first shark arrived 45 minutes into the trip. This first shark was a smaller and shyer individual but made way for a larger, boisterous and well known shark “Jacob”. It’s great to still see “Jacob” around as it is close to a month now since he was re-sighted at our boat. The rest of the sharks on this trip were similar in size to the first individual, with them all being under the 3.0m length. The second trip of the day experienced the same great conditions as the first, with that warm sun beating down on us, the divers could not wait to get in the water to cool off and of course swim with a Great White! This trip saw sharks arrive within 10 minutes of anchoring and constant action around the boat for the tours entirety. Whilst this morning’s trip was ruled by the smaller juveniles our afternoon trip was one for the big sharks! Our largest of the trip and also of the day was a large male we know quite well, approximately 4.0m in length with some distinctive notches in its dorsal, following not far behind was a very dark and clean female approximately 3.9m in length. Both these big beauties were quite active for us as well which is awe-inspiring in these larger individuals. The other sharks that visited the boat throughout the trip were between the 3.0m-3.5m length, including an individual that has a smaller stunted pectoral. A great summer’s day out in the bay…
