Rain didn’t stop the copper sharks from strutting their stuff this morning as we pretty much had them straight away on this overcast Thursday morning. With some great activity at the start of our trip our guests got some great face to face action with these wonderful sharks. Activity peaked and troughed through this trip but we saw some great action when they were around. The stingrays were also popping up from time to time and really wowed some of our guests on board today! On returning to the harbour we encountered a small group of mother calf pair Southern Right Whales which was a nice end to the trip.
We re-anchored and moved straight away and went a little deeper. We had very consistent activity for this trip with 5-6 different copper sharks. Some really nice close and slow passes from a few of these sharks checking out what was going on in the cage. The stingrays showed up in force as well, with some nice surface activity and plenty of photo opportunities. Unfortunately our white sharks didn’t show themselves today, but we’re hoping sightings improve over the weekend.
