This afternoon we launched from Gansbaai harbour and had a nice trip around Danger Point out to the Shallows. It took us around 30 minutes after dropping the anchor to get a shark around Slashfin today. We waited in anticipation for a confirmation of the species, but unfortunately it was not a White Shark today. Instead a majestic Bronze Whaler graced us with its presence, but this Bronzie was maybe a white shark in disguise! This guy gave our guests a great show today, and stuck around Slashfin for nearly the entire trip. Although the visibility was not great today, we managed to get most of our cage divers an underwater sighting of this large requiem shark.

This was the second time we have had Bronze Whalers (or their other common name the Copper Shark) this week. If you’d like to learn some more fintastic facts about this shark check out the blog post from the 3rd of August 2017.

We were welcomed back to the harbour with the sun slowly going down and a pleasantly warm start to our evening. We shall keep our eyes out for our White Shark friends, and keep you up to date with all things shark here in the bay.
