We launched from Gansbaai harbour this morning and headed round Danger Point for a lovely ride to the shallows. We arrived at our anchor spot this morning and got our keen divers geared up into their wetsuits. Not 10 minutes had gone by and we had a shark. While not quite a great white, we had a stunning 3m copper shark around Slashfin. So in our divers got. These schooling sharks get very curious around the cage much to our divers delight. Visibility in the shallows is not always stunning so it helps these guys come in close. We had excellent consistent activity throughout this trip with some of our divers going in the cage again! Towards the end of the trip we even had a southern right whale mother and calf come very close to the back of the boat, an incredible sight to witness. With a few last passes from the copper sharks we got our divers out of the cage and headed back to the harbour to collect our second trip.

For our second trip we launched back out of Kleinbaai harbour and headed straight back to the shallows. While we picked up our cage we witnessed more southern right whales seemingly just chilling out in the late morning sun. Again the copper sharks turned up in force on this trip, with plenty of opportunities to witness their beauty both on the top deck of Slashfin and in the cage. 2 cape fur seals also cruised by the boat and multiple whales were milling around the shallows. With activity good throughout the trip we had some very happy cage divers indeed.

In the afternoon for our third trip we once again headed for the shallows. Soon after we anchored and attached the cage back to the boat were the copper sharks back… and they came back with a fury. Soon a juvenile cape fur seal came around as well and hung around the boat for a while. We witnessed a southern right whale briefly in the distance, before we made our way back. While we didn’t see any white sharks today, our guests were thrilled with the activity the copper sharks showed today.
