A beautiful Saturday out on the water today with some of the best conditions we have seen in a while. The seas were flat with a slight breeze around and the sun shining, one of the warmest days we have had this season so far. Once on anchor a Copper shark appeared very quickly as did a Cape Fur seal, unfortunately we saw the Copper sharks disappear and had to move anchor, a good move with some better luck with the new site. It appears that four different Copper sharks appeared throughout the trip, something we are glad to see as water temperatures are dropping, which is seen as unfavourable for this species.
The second trip of the day set off and encounter the Coppers very quickly. This time the sharks stuck around and no anchor move was needed. The sharks made beautifully passes by the cage making it easier for our crew and guests to see especially with the decreased visibility we were experiencing today.
The third and final trip of the day showed great patience with a bit of a wait for the Coppers to show up. Patience paid off and a little after an hour they appeared and put up a great show for the last group of the day.
Today, though no Great White sharks were seen, we are nearing two weeks off our last White shark sighting and are hoping that soon will be the day we see these animals grace the bay with their presence again…
