Do sharks complain about Mondays? No. They’re up early biting stuff, chasing things, being awesome – reminding everyone that they’re a shark! The first group of guests to join Marine Dynamics this Monday had exactly the same mentality, they were on their way to Gansbaai in the early hours of the morning and we launched Slashfin with views of the stunning sunrise over the bay.
Once on anchor we only had moments to wait for our first shark to appear, one of the females, measuring in at approximately 2.8m, she has been seen frequently over the previous 7 days and whilst her behaviour around the boat is amazing to see she does not seem inclined to stick around long especially if another White shark approaches, which is what we saw this morning.
The second shark of the trip to appear was our Iconic shark “Mini Nemo”, showing why he is a favourite in this area and with our company by coming in nice and close for everyone to see and staying with us for much of the trip.
Towards the end of our morning we were in for a surprise as another juvenile made a hasty approach towards the waters’ surface. This animal is one we have not logged recently and is in fact a new shark for us since our recent period of shark scarcity. A welcome sight to all.
The second trip of the day was an exclusive for a family group of three visiting us from Italy. The sharks did not disappoint with a shadow spotted approaching the boat soon after arriving back in the Shallows. The action continued throughout the trip with another new addition for the Marine Dynamics team as a new female we have not logged recently turning up!
Could we make it three out of three successful trips for the day, we hoped and we did with our third and final trip launching and seeing their first shark not long after settling on anchor. The small scarred female joined us, as well as the same pale male from the second trip
