What a stunning Saturday to spend out on the water surrounded by sharks is probably not something people hear often but today saw some beautiful Summer conditions and multiple White sharks cruising around the bay. The first to arrive this morning was a nice sized male, approaching the 3.5m length and whilst this was after an hour of waiting it appeared the groups patience was rewarded as after this more sharks appeared. This trip saw sharks around the boat that whilst we may recognise them as animals that have been sighted in the bay recently they are not well known or named however we don’t need a well known shark around the boat to have great activity and we saw some truly amazing behaviour and sightings this morning with mostly male White sharks around and between the size range of 2.0m and 3.5m.

The second trip of the day launched and we had one of our smaller males from the first trip reappear not to long after we arrived back in the Shallows. This trip has many of the previous trips White sharks turn up but with addition of one of our only females of the day which was “Paisley”, a shark that Dyer Island Conservation Trust tagged in December 2015 and which we are happy to report retained her acoustic tag for just over 12 months. “Paisley” proved to be the largest shark of the day measuring in at approximately 3.8m in length.
