Location: Joubertsdam

Depth: 8.8m + 9.6m

Visibility: 2.0 m + 2.0

Number of Sharks: 1 + 3

Conditions: flat seas

We are now 3 for 3!!

The first trip launched a little after sunrise and welcomed their first shark after only 16 minutes.  We couldn’t believe our luck with having such a short wait.  Once again, it was a new shark that came to visit.  This one was smaller than the previous days, but stuck around for much longer.  All of the cages were able to see the shark from the water as well as the boat.  We couldn’t contain our excitement for finally getting to show off these amazing sharks to a wonderful group of clients.

The second trip started a bit slow.  We had over an hour’s wait before the same shark from the morning trip showed up.  As the afternoon progressed, we were fortunate to see 2 additional sharks both of which are also new to the Bay.  One of the sharks had a red spot on his nose, so we affectionately called him “Rudolf the red-nosed white shark” throughout the trip.  He didn’t seem to mind the nickname because he continued to make multiple passes at the boat.

Just remember we are still slow on activity compared to previous years.  However, we are quite optimistic that new sharks seem to be arriving.  Let’s hope they stay for the winter!!
