It took a little time for Scarlett to show herself this morning, and it seemed like a cheeky Bronze Whaler Shark was going to steal the show with a couple of swift passes, but Scarlett was on form when she did arrive. With some majestic passes, our cage divers got some excellent underwater viewing. If that wasn’t excitement enough, we were joined by a 3.8m white shark soon after, and it appeared that they were swimming in near unison. But wait there’s more! A huge stingray also joined us in front of the cage for a while, giving our guests on this first trip a plethora of elasmobranch sightings (since all three species are closely related!).
Maybe today can be labelled “Stingray Saturday” as we were joined by another individual on the second trip! While it was cool to see this flat shark, we were intent on finding ourselves a white shark. Although it took a little extra patience on this second trip, we were rewarded with the small scratched up female. She put on a rather fine display for our cage divers, as well as our guests on the top deck, hopefully you all got some fintastic photos!!
Our third trip we had a group of 6 guests joining us from Argentina! We didn’t need to wait as long, and were joined by “Scarlett”, one of the favourites currently being seen in the bay. Not only did we have this large female this afternoon but we also had two others very similar in size make appearances, one a female with little to no scaring that appears to be a new animal to the bay and has some fantastic behaviour around the boat. A fantastic way to end the day.
