Trip 1
What a reason to wake up nice and early, a beautiful morning to spent some time out on the water and some very nice shark sightings as well! Our first group launched out of Kleinbaai at 6am and had the first shark sighting whilst the divers were still getting changed into their wetsuits. This was “Mini Rosie” an estimated 3.5m female well known to the team at Marine Dynamics and one we are lucky enough to see approximately twice a year. We then saw three other sharks between the 2.5m to 4.0m size range, all of which are not well known to us but are ones we have seen around the boat before. The last shark of the trip was “Sarko” the feisty, little female that has been in the bay the last few months. This trip was also visited by another member of the elasmobranch family, the Short-tailed stingray!

Trip 2
The second trip of the day launched and experienced similar, fantastic conditions as the first for the first section of the trip before the wind really picked up and made for some motion in the ocean. This trip saw a bit of a wait for the sharks to arrive however once they did the activity was great with a juvenile male first on the scene followed by another juvenile male we know very well and refer to as “Spaghetti”. It appeared that the males were going to dominated this trip however “Mini Rosie” appeared to even the gender ratio and cause a bit of excitement before another large female approached by unfortantely did not stick around as another juvenile White shark appeared to take our total count for the second trip to five different White sharks!
