It was a beautiful day to be out on Slashfin, with two trips and some interesting sights. The first trip were lucky enough to have two sharks around the larger being around 3.5m whilst the smaller individual was round 2.6m in length. The second trip only caught a brief glimpse of a small, untagged shark before it disappeared but, we did manage to see some beautiful African Penguin rafts on the way back to the harbour.

Working with nature is always a gamble. On our first trip, we got to see 3 Indian Ocean Humpback Dolphins and, a little later on, not one but two tagged sharks. This was great for some of our return client who had decided to try their luck again after having had mis trips on their first dive. Although the Great Whites are still quite shy, disappearing for some time before coming to the boat again, we managed to have a successful trip, stopping at the Cape Fur Seals and spotting some African Penguins on the way back in.

On our second trip, a shark only came up to investigate once, before moving away from the boat. After waiting on the water in the lovely winter sun, we made our way towards Dyer Island where we spent some time viewing the Cape Fur Seals in the twilight hour. Our trip back to the harbour was quite an interesting one which involved dodging large rafts of African Penguins who were heading home after a long day’s fishing. These exceptional little birds will travel up to 60km a day to find food, before making their way back to Dyer Island.
