Trip Comments:
The morning started a bit different as what we are used to as Slashfin was going to go out for an Eco trip. We usually launch with Whale Whisperer for our Eco trips but the group that joined us was too big for Whale Whisperer. On the Eco trip we managed to spot 4 of the marine big 5: Seals, Penguins, Sharks and Dolphins! After Slashfin was taken out this morning for an Eco trip we started boarding for a shark cage diving trip and people started asking where our cage was. They were glad to hear that we didn’t forget it but that it was dropped at Joubertsdam after the Eco trip that morning. There were still little patches of the red tide around but fortunately not in the area where we anchored. The water temperature has been dropping as we have been experiencing easterly winds the last two days. Fortunately we didn’t have to wait for sharks to appear and boy were they active! They gave us lots of opportunities to get awesome pictures. We started with two smaller sharks around the boat, a 2.5m male and a 3.0m female. Later some bigger sharks showed up including Vanessa, a 4.3m female. We ended up seeing 5 different sharks with activity being higher than average which made the people on the boat quite happy.
