If our guests for the first trip had hoped for a sleep in this Saturday they were in for a surprise! We launched at the early hour of 7am from Kleinbaai harbour with many still half asleep. The chilled, fresh air, general excitement at the chance of seeing a White shark and the beautiful sunrise did the trick to wake us all up properly. Once on anchor we enjoyed the sight of a Cape Fur seal and an African penguin close to the boat before our first shark made an appearance. This was not in fact a White shark but a Bronze Whaler or Copper shark, although not the particular species of shark we were looking for these animals are just as happy to approach the boat and allow our guests to have a good look at them. Soon after a White shark appeared, it was none other than ‘Sarko’, the juvenile female that was sponsored and named last year by a couple that visited us and one that was only seen yesterday for the first time this season. ‘Sarko’, whilst not sticking around for the entire trip, was very active when she was around with many exciting moments as she launched herself above the waters’ surface. Unfortunately, she disappeared and the rest of our trip was filled with brief visits from the Copper shark. A beautiful morning out on the water, certainly one worth waking up for!

For our afternoon trips we were also joined by Sarko for a good period of time, and she gave our cage divers some fantastic passes. Scarlett briefly showed her face on the second trip, but it was Sarko’s show this afternoon. In addition to our Whites, the Copper sharks were back in force, and by the third trip we had three of them circling Slashfin!
