Mondays rarely would be a favourite day for many, usually heading back to work with the new week ahead, here though, sharks don’t understand which day it is so the usual start of the week does not affect them like it could us and this Monday well lets just say the sharks made it unforgettable for many!

We launched a little later today, heading out with a drop in the wind and onto anchor quickly. The Copper sharks appeared out of the blue, very quickly as our guests were putting on their wetsuits. The first cruising around the front of the boat, circling the back and around into everyones view. The Coppers continued this pattern for approximately 15 minutes before the call we all wait for was heard…”WHITE SHARK”. This was a large female spotted in the area at the start of the month that was only documented across 2 days before disappearing. She is easily identifiable by the lack of the upper caudal lobe. She appeared quickly, captivating those onboard before disappearing to only return later in the day for Slashfin’s second trip. The second shark for the day was a female of similar size (approximately 4.0m) with impressive scars on both sides of her trunk, she also made some very nice passes before leaving for the morning only to appear again for the afternoon group. Not to worry we may have had a bit of waiting for our next shark to appear but she did, slowly cruising in, we could follow her path for some time before she came close enough for us to see…a new shark! Another large female, beautifully clean in that she appeared to not have any remarkable scarring bar one small circular abbrasion on the right side towards her tail, she wasn’t around for long but she sure made a lasting impression with two partial breaches as she came up from the deep white belly on display and came out of the water and turned airbourne! This female also reappeared for the second trip of the day along with two other Whites, one of our favourite males Mini Nemo, the gimpy-finned but feisty frequent visitor and another large female to add to the count for the day!

A “Great White” day if there ever was one…
