Shark Saturdays people! And today did not disappoint. We went straight to the shallows this morning, anchored up and got the cage ready. With our guests geared up we were soon joined by the copper sharks, with 3 around Slashfin at one point. They were clearly up and ready to take the weekend by the scruff of the neck. And then Alfred detected the distinctive white shark silhouette in the distance and soon enough we had our first white shark of the day. This was the 3.5m female with the frayed tail that we have been seeing over the last few months. She had a couple of tasty breaches on the decoy and then glided around Slashfin for some time, giving everyone ample opportunity to get some beautiful photos. Feisty was up next, and he was a little more docile this morning, swimming gently around us and checking out our cage divers. The marine dynamics Big 3 was complete when the stingray showed up as well. A fun and successful trip!
For our second trip we had our copper sharks with us pretty much straight away again, and were soon joined by Feisty, again just gliding around Slashfin strutting his stuff. With our divers very much impressed with his stature, we then had the opportunity to check out the 2.8m male with fresh scarring around his mouth. He was a little more active giving the decoy a couple of bumps and then moving onwards!
The Marine Dynamics Big 3 were all present and accounted for on the third trip today also, with Feisty, the 2.8m male, our copper sharks and the stingrays all checking us out! The coppers gave our divers some nice close up action, while our whites were content with some graceful passes and the occasional burst of energy for the decoy. The stingrays always provide us with a bit of a shock, just at their sheer size. They really are excellent animals to watch! All round a marvellous day on the big blue!
