We launched just in time to watch a beautiful sunrise over the bay. With very flat conditions it couldn’t have been more perfect. After having our patience tested a little this past week, the guests and crew were pleasantly surprised to have a shark show up right away. The shark was none other than “Big Momma”. She is quite a girthy shark coming in at 4.5 meters. She made some very nice slow passes for our first 2 cages. After disappearing for a bit, she made another appearance at the end of the 3rd cage and was much quicker and more active during the visit. Just when we were thinking she was the only shark we would see, a new smaller shark showed up. She was a dynamic shark and put an exclamation point on the end of the trip.
The second trip of the day launched with the hopes of repeating the sightings from the first trip however like all nature and wildlife activity things change so easily and quickly. The group on board waited patiently on a four hour anchor and unfortunately it was one of those trips were we did not see a White shark. Our guest today were fantastic with high hopes and spirits throughout the trip and many of them taking the plunge into the chilly Altantic waters for the experience. Before heading back to the harbour we made a pass by the Islands for a look at the Cape Fur seals and happened to see a lone African Penguin amongst them all on Geyser Rock. A big thank you extended to our guests today for their patience and understanding.
