If you wanna make your sharky dreams come true, then first you’ve gotta wake up! We did just that this morning and early. Our dreams of seeing a white shark came true almost as soon as we’d got our wetsuits on this morning. With a little 1.8m male swimming gently in the distance, he seemed unfazed by our presence and just glided around the boat. This was our cue to get in the cage and see whether we could get face to face with our dreams today. Having not seen her for a few days we were considering Sarko had moved out of the area, but she announced herself with a bang, catching Sally the seal decoy unawares! She gave us some fantastic close cage action and really pumped up our guests for more sharky action. We were not left disappointed, as two more small female white sharks joined us. Similar in size the 4th shark of the morning even outdid Sarko in terms of activity. Our cage divers truly had a fintastic time on our first trip.
For our second trip, we were first joined by our friends dressed in copper, and these guys gave our cage divers a bit of a run for their money darting around left right and centre! With the sun on our backs we were more than happy to relax, learn about sharks, and wait for our white sharks to arrive. They took their time but it was worth the wait as a 3m white shark rocked up towards the end of our trip giving our guests some excellent passes!
For the third trip we headed out, and were the only cage dive vessel on the water, so we had the pick of the sharks! With our copper sharks joining first, and then 20 minutes later we had a white shark gliding beautifully by Slashfin. This was a smaller juvenile that made a “splash” before disappearing. Our last group then practice some immense patience like our second group of the day and waited for another glimpse of these ever elusive animals. The great patience was paid off when the White shark from the second trip came into view, an estimated 3.0m female with white pigmentation or rosie on both sides of her dorsal fin. She made quite a few passes before saying goodbye and finishing off the trip and day on a great note!
