A lovely start to the day with our launch scheduled from Gansbaai harbour. This meant we would have an extended journey around Danger Point, despite the name it was quite pleasant. We saw our research boat in action on route to our dive site, we have recently acquired the permits to actively tag and track Great White Sharks in the greater Gansbaai area, now all we need is to find a shark. We were lucky enough to spot at least nine different Southern Right Whales on our journey, 5 of them were part of a mating party and were not shy to flaunt thing about. The shark kept us waiting a bit on our first trip however once the first shark arrived the rest followed. Limited visibility in the water was overcome by extremely close passes from the sharks. We had one of our tagged shark make a few passes as well as a shark with some massive lacerations to the right side of its face. An eventful day out…
