Today was one of those special trips where the clear water made the diving spectacular (and easier than usual!). The moody grey clouds contrasted beautifully with the crystal blue Atlantic ocean. As we arrived on anchor we didn’t wait long until our first shark arrived, a juvenille male. On board we had Shane Sauvage who is head chef and owner of the popular La Pentola restaurants in Pretoria and Hermanus. He watched proudly as his ten year old daughter Willow climbed into the cage. One thing that never gets old, is seeing a persons reaction after they have experienced a first time view of a white shark under water, especially a young fearless teenager. Willow came up to take a breath and shouted excitedly “Alison… this just Rocks!!!” The entire boat laughed. The trip continued to give us spectacular sharks with a large 4.2m female and more sub adult sharks appearing. We named a young 3.0m female shark after Willow, and a second female of similar size “Sophia” after a request from her brother Kilian Dallwitz on board with us. His sister is a shark fan back in Germany and the gesture was a pre Christmas gift. All in all, another exceptional day for everyone on board with us!
