Just one word to describe today – wow! We started slow, only one shark for the first hour or so… and then things picked up! The sharks kept getting bigger and bigger and then Matilda showed up; a 4 meterish shark with an awesome temperament, as Clarence says – you can’t sleep when Matilda’s about! Ambushing and breaching at the bait time after time she was in awesome form.

The second trip started with Matilda, still in amazing form, breaching at the bait several times in succession. You would expect the sharks couldn’t get any bigger than this, but you would be wrong… First Sharkius Maximus (~4.5m female) made a brief appearance and then our jaws dropped – the biggest shark I’ve personally seen in months appeared. A massive massive female that must have been at least 5 meters in length began to dominate around the boat. As if things couldn’t get any better another huge shark moved in; not quite as big as the last but none the less it was still big. You rarely see the crew as excited to see sharks as we were to see these two!

If you are looking to get up close and personal with the great white shark then Shark Diving in Gansbaai, and more specifically with Marine Dynamics, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you won’t want to miss.
