The sheer number of sharks, clarity of water and perfect weather conditions made for a very special day of diving today! On the first trip our biologist Helen Patullo took the most amazing photos (again!) of acrobatic sharks literally leaping out of the water with their jaws agape. By the afternoon the sharks had mellowed in their behaviour but good old “Ninja” still arrived and did her thing for an hour. There are various ‘clans’ of white sharks around at the moment so it seems. Just towards the end of the afternoon a clan of seriously large sharks arrived, both males and females. Some of the females had bite marks on their heads, possible mating attempts or inter specific aggression. One individual took both our crew and guests breath away as her sheer size was unbelievable, dwarfing the cage as she cruised by. I think this shark was edging towards 4.7m (almost  5m) in length! Well done to young Patrick from the USA (5 years old) who joined Dad and Nanna on their cage dive and helped the Divemasters and I spot for sharks. You are now officially going to be the coolest kid in school :) .
