Daily Trip 2nd June 2012 | Shark Diving South Africa

Winter at Dyer Island just keeps getting better! We had yet another spectacular trip today, with 15 individual sharks some measuring between 4.5 and 5m! On arriving at a reef to the west of the island, we were busy watching a shy albatross saw gracefully through the sky, then all of a sudden a huge splash occured and the seagulls flocked to it- it was a natural shark predation on a cape fur seal! Our luck continued with very active sharks and stunningly clear water visibility. One shark with a distinctive tumour like growth on its right flank I recognised from the same time last year and have not seen him since. The growth seems to be from some sort of injury, possibly a bite from another shark. Regardless, this male sharks health must be fine as he has grown substantially since last year.  The day was topped off by two full breaches one just off the stern within ten meters of the boat.. Incredible!
