The skies looked like threatening rain this morning as we headed into the Shallows, however there was no need to worry as this soon cleared to reveal a beautiful day! For some time now we have witnessed slow shark activity in this area, we are unsure why this is happening and can some days have over an hour’s wait until our first shark arrive,s yet today we were lucky enough to only have a 15 minute wait and not only that but six very active sharks including our small female “Fishing Line Shark” and a juvenile male by the name of “Mini Nemo”! Our afternoon trip started off with a surprise as we spotted two Southern Right Whales as we were leaving the harbour, these whales are currently in their peak season for this area however we still count ourselves very lucky if we see them from Slashfin! Whilst we didn’t see as many sharks on our afternoon trip we did have sharks from the get go with a clean, pale juvenile approximately 2.3m in length seen as we arrived. Following soon after was a female individual we have seen a lot around the boat with a dot and scratch mark on the right side of her trunk. We then experienced an extended lull in shark activity before our second individual came back right up next to the cage giving our divers including Alex, who had been in the cage for close to 2 hours at that point, a up close and personal experience with a Great White! To finish off our afternoon we were treated to a lovely sized shark approximately 4.0m in length that was cruising around just under the surface. A beautiful day to go shark cage diving…
