20/12/2014

Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 17.9’C + 17.7’C
Depth: 10.8m + 11.2m
Visibility: 1.0m + 0.5m
Number of Sharks: 3 + 5
Conditions: Clear skies with increasing wind and choppy seas.

The first trip of the day saw “Jacob” arrive half an hour after anchoring. This shark is always welcome around the boat as he is highly active and enjoys leaps and jumps above the water! Not long after a smaller individual showed up to join in the fun. The afternoon saw a lull in shark activity with an hour wait for our first Great White to show up. Throughout the trip new individuals continued to turn up but most were not interest in sticking around, rather they were happy to have a look at what was going on and move on. We did however have a constant presence of a Short-Tailed Stingray and a hungry Cape Gannet keen to capture some of the small fish, Mullet and Mackerel, which we find around the boat on most days. A slow but successful day on the water…
