Mist shrouded the horizon as our first trip left Gansbaai harbour this morning. After a short trip over to the shallows the crew pulled our cage up alongside the boat having left it there early that morning. After a brief wait our first shark arrived around the boat, a small, 2.2m individual who, although his initial visit to our boat was brief, came back later in the day and gave our divers in the cage some fantastic views. A slow start to the trip proved worth the wait between this small individual and another similar sized shark that made consistent passes at the cage and really made this trip a fantastic experience for all! Our second trip saw the clouds clearing to reveal a beautiful sunny and warm afternoon on the water. On arrival at our dive site we had a large female sighted straight away. This was one of our individuals we saw yesterday known as “Lori”, who has previously been tracked with an acoustic tag! The first half of this trip belonged to the big sharks with “Lori” and another large individual circling around. Towards the end of our trip we saw the big sharks replaced with two juveniles that continued to come by, darting in very close to the cage allowing the divers under the water to have a perfect view of these magnificent creatures…
