Another early start this morning as we set out for the Island as the sun was coming up! We have mentioned numerous times that our experiences on the water changes on a daily basis. When we experience trips with slower activity we will sometimes encourage our divers in the cage to make seal noises under the water. This sends out vibrations that can help attract the sharks, and also keep everyone entertained! However, today we needed none of this as the sharks were coming in thick and fast from the beginning to the end of our day. This morning’s trip saw our recent clan of sharks visiting the boat, including the small female known as “Fishing Line Shark”. Our second trip was a large group of high school children from London on a hockey trip. This trip saw a lot of LOUD excitement being expressed from the groups in the cage and for good reason. We had a continuous patrol of Great Whites, with at least one shark within view of the boat at most times. “Malcolm X” again paid us a welcome visit this afternoon and was a favourite amongst the group! Last but not least, our third trip of the day was an exclusive for the Rooney Family from New York. Three members of the family ventured into the cage whilst the other three enjoyed the view from onboard. On days like today when the sharks are at the surface continuously, you can have a stunning view of the sharks from the boat as well! We had our usual individuals from earlier in the day visiting during this trip with the addition of a large male to the mix and a shark we know as “Little Lumpy” due to a lump on the left side of its trunk from an old bite! A great trip to end a great day…
